Want to learn how to play Ken but don't know where to start? Confused by all the combo videos and waffle? Don't know how to SHORYUKEN good? Well this is the tutorial for you! In this tutorial I cover what I believe to be the core beginner combos to learn before going on to learn the more complex hit-confirms and link combos. I also cover an Intermediate Combos primer, punishing, jump-ins, anti-airs and dealing with fireballs! *SHORTCUTS* The standard input for Shoryuken or Dragon Punch (DP) is f d df. There are two shortcuts; f df f and df d df. You will see I use both a little in this tutorial, former for comboing from s.HP and latter from c.LP or c.HP :) *INPUT PRIORITY* Speaking of shortcuts the other thing to know is input priority. The standard DP input (f d df) takes priority over the Hadouken input (QCF), so f d df f or f QCF+P will result in a Shoryuken and not a Hadouken. However the Hadouken input takes priority over the df d df DP input so df d df f or df QCF+P will result in a Hadoukebn :) *SHORYUKEN SUPER CANCELLING* I found the easiest way to cancel the second hit of H SRK is to *not* do the 2-in-1 and do the full QCF QCF+K super (or Critical Art) motion after the DP+HP input. You also need to be careful to land the SRK as low as possible in juggles or you won't be able to super cancel. There are some combos where you have to super cancel on the 1st hit otherwise the super will miss and you have to 2-in-1. You'll see I write the notation for these as f QCF+P QCF+K :) *V-SKILLS & V-TRIGGERS* I would recommend beginners use V-Skill 2, think it was buffed in recent patches and gives a much easier CC combo :) I would recommend beginners use V-Trigger 1. While VT1 is a 3-bar V-Trigger the problem with V-Trigger 2 is you can't simply activate it, you either have to use it to punish or hit-confirm into it If you do decide to use VT2 I'd recommend only using Lv1 as Lv2 and Lv3 give minimal extra damage and you can get 3 uses out of it normally. VT1 is very plus on block after Hadouken as well :) The video was running long so I had to cut combos for VT1 and VT2 when VT is already active. Basically VT1 is same combos more damage, with H SRK you can now cancel into CA on the 3rd hit. VT2 has the exact same combos however you will get a little more damage when already active as you won't suffer from VT activation scaling :) *METER USAGE* Ken doesn't need to use meter to extend combos. I would advise saving meter for when you need invulnerability for EX SRK and CA. That's every character done for Beginner Combos! Woo! Next I'll be making a "Definitive Update" edition for characters I made Beginner Combos for early on (R. Mika, Karin, Juri, probably few more) :) Subscribe for more tutorials!
