Shakmat Modular SUMDIF / playthrough / more than a mid side processor
In this video I take a closer look at the functionality of SUMDIF by Shakmat Modular. SUMDIF is only 2HP wide and can be used for a lot of things: inverter, averager, buffered multiple, precision adder, mid/side processor, ... . Besides showing how you can create interesting modulation signals, I walk you through a patch to make supersaws with sumdif (and a comparator) as well. I also demonstrate and explain how mid/side processing works, how to use SUMDIF as a mult and a precision adder. I haven't recorded an example of using SUMDIF as an averager, but just know that it's possible using the A+B outputs (with the jumpers on the back added for a 6dB gain cut). I’m using both Ko-fi and Patreon, to give anyone the option to either donate a few euro/dollar one time (Ko-Fi is useful for that) or to pledge a certain monthly amount on the - more known - service Patreon. The content on both of these support pages is the same and they both give acces to my Discord server, where I do livestreams, share videos, interact with everyone and discuss topics related to eurorack techniques and gear in general. http://www.ko-fi.com/BRiES http://www.patreon.com/madebybries Thank you so much to the people who already supported me. It is really very much appreciated. 0:00 intro 0:14 welcome 1:08 sound examples 2:13 adding/subtracting LFOs 13:15 buffered mult/precision adder 16:32 adding audio rate signals 19:58 mid/side what, why and how 29:17 mid/side maths 35:17 mid/side two patches 39:50 outro DISCLAIMER: Shakmat Modular sent me this module because I specifically asked to add it to my rack and make a video about it. There's several M/S modules around but this is surely the smallest one, and (for me) that by itself makes it the most interesting one. If you want more features like built-in filters, normalisation, etc... this is probably not the one for you, but with a few extra utilities and filters you can expand greatly on the functionality.
