She Arrives

She Arrives is taken from the recent show that I scored for Coventry City of Culture 2021. The Walk happened last month and was produced by Emergency Exit Arts and directed by Sita Thomas. As many of you couldn't make it to Coventry I have uploaded this track from the show for you to listen to. This is when little Amal first enters the arena. The piece features operatic vocals combined with Syrian vocals and Middle Eastern influences. It was an honour to compose the music for Coventry embraces Amal. Such a wonderful project with an important message. At the heart of The Walk is ‘Little Amal’, a 3.5 metre-tall puppet of a young refugee girl, created by the acclaimed Handspring Puppet Company. Representing all displaced children, many separated from their families, Little Amal is travelling over 8,000km embodying the urgent message “Don’t forget about us”!
