The scale is 322mm which is about the same as a capo on the first fret. The result is effortless playing with light strings. There is always an option to put on heavier strings for more aggressive playing, but I am finding a lot of older players like me need an instrument that relaxes the left hand. I do some playing in the middle with my fingernails, which is how I used to play live with a pickup.
