In Shrek 2, Shrek drinks a potion he stole from Fairy Godmother. Thinking it will make him handsome so it will make Fiona and her family happy, instead, makes him something completely different. When he wakes up, after the potion knocks him out, he finds out that he turned into a new hideous monster. He turned into Sonic the Hedgehog, or even more fitting Sonic the Ogre, or Shrek the Hedgehog. This is the same ugly Sonic the Hedgehog the entire internet was horrified by a couple weeks ago.
