Side-lying Adductor Pullback
Side-lying Adductor Pullback Keys to this activity: 1. Make sure the pelvis is tucked and the lower to mid back is not arched 2. Maintain foot contacts throughout 3. Pullback small amounts and don't lose pullback when you press into the ball Some reasons to include this activity: 1. Improved eccentric orientation of the posterior pelvic musculature. By positioning the hip in "flexion" and the leg in adduction, we bias the posterior pelvic outlet towards an eccentric position. 2. To improve sense of left inner thigh musculature to assist in mid stance phase of gait. The adductor helps to pull the pelvis over the leg during the mid-stance of gait. In the case of an orientation (usually to the right) of the pelvis, the adductor on the opposite side can assist us in reorienting the pelvis. 3. To improve hip range of motion. Because this movement reduces posterior compression, it can improve both external rotation and internal rotation. This is a PRI technique.
