Sidelight Window Frame Build
This video shows the construction of a sidelight window frame. I made several attempts at purchasing replacement frames from several sources and they were all too large by about 1/4" in both width and height and I returned them. This solution to replace broken and worn frames was my Plan B. Plan C was to make completely new side panels which would have been a much easier shop build but there were a lot of unknowns in how the original sidelight frames were installed. I opted for the solution with minimal household disruption especially in the middle of winter. For the first frame I used African Mahogany but it had some pent up tension that results in some bow and twisting that I fought throughout the build. I had a white cedar post that I used for this frame that was clear and rift sawn. It was straight as an arrow after milling but was much softer and had a tendency to chip out on exit cuts.
