The Simple Sifter is designed to work easily, cost little, and be efficient without the use of a motor to create a vibration. The old bed springs help accentuate the movement of falling material helping to create a continuous vibration. The material needs to be dry and loose so it will sift easily. Besides sifting the garden dirt .. I've also used it to sift sand from a gravel bed for use in various projects.
