Simula Changed Programming For Ever – So Why Does Nobody Use It?

1967. The Summer of Love. The Beatles, kaftans, patchouli, psychedelia. Meanwhile, in computing a revolution had taken place. And hardly anyone noticed. Before C or C++, before Pascal or Smalltalk, a language had arrived that would influence almost every programming language that we use today. It had objects and coroutines, classes and garbage collection. And yet hardly anyone today has ever used it. Many programmers have probably never even heard of it. In this video, I take a look at Simula. Released in 1962, with objects added by 1967. You can still program Simula to this day.
