Single Crochet
Welcome to the beginning of the crochet stitch saga. 🧶 In this video, we’re starting with the single crochet stitch, one of the main foundational stitches in crochet and the stitch that will either become your best friend or personally humble you for a few rows. We’ll be going through everything step-by-step, including: • making a slip knot • creating a foundation chain • where to insert your hook • how to work into the chain properly • turning chains • second rows • stitch counting • and figuring out where your hook is actually supposed to go before crochet starts looking like a bowl of spaghetti. Even as we move into different stitches later in the course, we’ll still be revisiting these basics because understanding your foundation is what makes everything else easier later on. The next videos in the series will cover: • Half Double Crochet (hdc) • Double Crochet (dc) • Treble Crochet (tr) I won’t be covering double treble crochet right now because honestly the stitch starts looking like it’s applying for a ladder permit at that point, BUT if enough people want it, let me know in the comments or send me a DM and I can absolutely make a video on it. Also, if I miss something, explain something weirdly, accidentally say the wrong thing, or if you have any questions at all, please let me know nicely in the comments. Crochet is basically controlled yarn chaos and we are all learning together. Once we’re comfortable with single crochet, we’ll move on to half double crochet and keep building from there. 🖤
