Single Fold Binding Tutorial
Sewing binding to a quilt is the final step! One technique is single fold binding. As the name implies, it is one layer of fabric that is laid face down on the front of the quilt top, lined up with the raw edges, machine stitched; then wrapped around the raw edge to the back, and hand stitched in place. Single fold binding is also known as flat binding. If you ask a quilter how they bind a quilt, clearly double fold binding is the standard for most quiltmakers. Double fold binding is how I bind a lot of my quilts; especially baby quilts, lap quilts and bed quilts. However, single-fold binding is the perfect binding for small quilt projects like wall hangings, mini quilts, mug rugs, etc. For a written step-by-step photo tutorial on single fold binding, visit this blog page: https://www.needlepointers.com/main/youtubecontent.aspx?YoutubePageID=543 Handy Quilt Binding Calculator https://www.needlepointers.com/main/bindingcalculator.aspx ******* Subscribe to our YouTube channel because we post new crafting videos regularly.
