A reinforced concrete beam has a width of 300mm and an effective depth of 618mm. Compressive reinforcement (if required) will be placed at d'= 60mm. fc' 25MPa and fy=415MPa. The beam is to support a factored bending moment of 520 kN-m. Use NSCP 2015. 1. Calculate the steel ratio for balanced section. 2. Det. the governing steel ratio. 3. Solve for required are of steel reinforcement. 4. Det. the minimum number of 25mm dia. bars required as tension reinforcement. 5. Determine the maximum number of 25mm dia. bars required as tension reinforcement.
