Revising old traditional songs and dances with a blend of modern Instruments is the goal of the Siokole Contemporary Dancers. The song, "Isabel Barreto" describes the first encounter of an Europeans ship named "Isabel", Alvaro de Mendaña's ship that first discovered Solomon Islands in 1568. Isabel was the of the Explorer Alvaro de Mendaña - Subela is a Gela term for "Isabel".
