Sitar Singer is created in open tuning and is one of two sister songs about someone I was dating who took me for a bit of a roller coaster ride before anything could really take off romantically. I sat in front of a painting that brought back a memory of a conversation I had with him on one of our dates. It was one of few where I felt like we were connecting.
When I went home I was fuelled by memories of the exciting story he told then and when writing the song, I mis-remembered the subject in the painting. They were actually playing the guitar. But Sitar Singer it is. I performed this song at the end of a set at The McGregor Winter School 2024 and was captured by Paddy Long at Rare Squid Photography. I am grateful for the hometown crew who came along to the show, family from Allora, cousins from Clifton and music lovers from Toowoomba too. I am grateful of course to all who purchased a Desire Notes CD or Vinyl. Thank you Steve Kelly for suggesting the venue. It is a show that I am proud of and made up part of my first regional tour. Looking forward to more!!
