What happens when a musician and a computer scientist are the same person, and decide to combine both?
Demi is a PhD candidate at the University of Nottingham studying how to make music venues safer for our hearing through data-driven tools and safe listening research. Rooted in a family where music came from one side and computer science from the other, Demi has spent her academic journey refusing to pick a lane, and building something entirely her own at the intersection.
In this episode, we talk about sound exposure, why the magic decibel number doesn't exist yet, what goes on behind the scenes at a concert that musicians never see, and why done is better than perfect. Keep learning, keep questioning.
