Siyahamba Emoyeni Utwory z fascynacji czymś, co w kulturze Zulu jest dla mnie najbardziej poruszające: wspólnotą głosu, rytmem ziemi i poczuciem, że muzyka nie jest ozdobą, tylko formą pamięci. Nie chodziło o egzotyczną dekorację ani o udawanie, że można jednym utworem opowiedzieć całą kulturę. Chodziło raczej o próbę dotknięcia ducha - tego momentu, w którym człowiek staje nocą pod ogromnym niebem, słyszy bęben podobny do bicia serca i nagle rozumie, że nie jest sam, i że przed nim byli inni, a ziemia nosi ślady ich kroków. Głos jednego człowieka nabiera siły dopiero wtedy, gdy odpowiada mu chór. Inspiracją stał się obraz nocnego rytuału: ogień pośrodku, krąg ludzi, głębokie męskie głosy, klaskanie, tupnięcia, bębny i przestrzeń afrykańskiego krajobrazu, który nie jest tłem, lecz bohaterem. Sawanna, góry, mgła w dolinach, księżyc i gwiazdy tworzą tu coś więcej niż scenografię. To jakby sama natura brała udział w pieśni. W tych kompozycjach ważne było napięcie między prostotą a siłą. Krótkie frazy, powtarzane niczym modlitwa, mają działać bardziej jak zaklęcie niż klasyczna zwrotka. „Ziemia pamięta”, „duch nas prowadzi”, „idziemy pod gwiazdami” - to nie są zdania do intelektualnego rozbierania na części. To są słowa, które mają wejść w ciało razem z rytmem. To muzyka o pamięci, o korzeniach, o ludziach, którzy śpiewają nie po to, żeby wystąpić, ale żeby być razem. O tym, że są kultury, w których rytm nie służy rozrywce, tylko porządkuje świat. I może właśnie dlatego ten klimat tak mocno działa - przypomina, że zanim człowiek zaczął wszystko analizować, opisywać i sprzedawać, najpierw siedział przy ogniu, patrzył w niebo i śpiewał z innymi, żeby nie zgubić sensu. ‐------------------------------------------------------------------------ These pieces were born from a fascination with what, in Zulu culture, moves me the most: the community of voices, the rhythm of the earth, and the sense that music is not decoration, but a form of memory. It was not about exotic ornamentation, nor about pretending that one song could tell the story of an entire culture. It was rather an attempt to touch its spirit - that moment when a person stands at night beneath an immense sky, hears a drumbeat like a heartbeat, and suddenly understands that he is not alone; that others came before him, and that the earth still carries the traces of their steps. One human voice gains its true strength only when a choir answers. The inspiration came from the image of a night ritual: fire in the center, a circle of people, deep male voices, clapping, foot stomps, drums, and the vastness of the African landscape - a landscape that is not merely a background, but a character in its own right. The savanna, the mountains, the mist in the valleys, the moon and the stars create something more than scenery here. It is as if nature itself were taking part in the song. In these compositions, the tension between simplicity and power was essential. Short phrases, repeated like a prayer, are meant to work more like an invocation than a classic verse. “The earth remembers,” “the spirit leads us,” “we walk beneath the stars” - these are not sentences to be intellectually dissected. They are words meant to enter the body together with the rhythm. This is music about memory, about roots, about people who sing not to perform, but to be together. It is about cultures in which rhythm is not merely entertainment, but a way of ordering the world.
