Skull Science Methods | Geometric Morphometrics
Ahoy there Skullywags! In this episode, I break down the method of analysing shape, called Geometric Morphometrics, or GM/GMM. I've used this a lot for many different skull-related questions regarding animal behaviour, development, evolution, and palaeontology. It involves Procrustes Superimposition - a cool maths trick named after a pretty mean dude. Here is the link for the rock-wallaby data and code. You can see my old R coding tutorials for how to use it, if interested. https://github.com/DRexMitchell/Petrogale_allometry Here's the published paper of this research: https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/full/10.1098/rsbl.2024.0045 Socials: X: @theskullywaglab Instagram: @theskullywaglab Intro animations by Stephanie Montaño and Jansel Rubiano stephaniemontanog.myportfolio.com Music Introduction: Max Brhon - Redemption [NCS Release] Body: Corporate Music Zone - Journey Ahead Outro: NEFFEX - Desperate [NCS Release] Music provided by NoCopyrightSounds Free Download/Stream and https://www.free-stock-music.com/ and Pixabay
