Slackline
Slackline I tried a slackline for the first time Sophomore year of college. Our RA set one up outside and invited us to try it out. There were a few of us that just couldn’t get enough. We did a setup with 1” climbing webbing and a real slick way to tighten it up with 2 carabiners and some knots. I liked that almost as much as the line itself. A slackline is what would happen if a tightrope had a baby with a trampoline. You get up to walk on it and it bounces and moves all around as you go. The learning curve is…steep. It shakes underneath you, amplifying every move you make and when you try to readjust, it snaps back fast. But when you finally get set, breathing deep, and take a few calm steps along the line…it’s kinda intoxicating… I just decided to write a poem about slacklining one day. Then, months later when I came back to work on songs again, I found it and decided to give it a chorus and play along. I’m finally getting my voice back now, but this was the first song back after a few months out of commission. It feels like it too…
