To access the content and activities, kids touch the wireless SmartPen anywhere on the globe to learn more about a country's name, capital, leader, geography, history, weather, national anthem, and more. Kids can also compare the populations, areas, currencies, time, distance, and flying time between two locations. Kids can also hear fun facts about the world, world news, and play an i-Game that works with a free iOS and Android app, to be downloaded separately. (The app was not available at the time of this review.) When kids are ready to test their knowledge, there are six different race-and-find games where kids must find as many continents, countries, capitals, cities, local places, or a combination of all five as they can before time runs out. Three additional SmartPens, not included, can be added to the SmartGlobe Infinity so that kids can compete against siblings or friends when playing the games. Kids can also record their own voice notes about different places, and then touch those places on the map to hear their recorded note played back. A map of the United States is also included, so that kids can explore different topics about local places. Updated content can be added to the globe by connecting it to a Mac or PC computer with the included USB cord. You can update free for one year. Additional memory can be added to the globe by replacing the provided SD card with any higher capacity SD card, up to 32GB. Plus, this is compatible with other themed SmartGlobes, sold separately. The SmartPen includes a built-in speaker with volume control. There is also a headphone jack for quiet play or if multiple kids are exploring at the same time.
