SMAW Practice 66. This practice session ended in failure. I had bad fit up along about a third of the seam. A hole was made. Excessive grinding followed which caused the .049" material to become much thinner.
Ultimately, a shockingly large hole resulted. I tried some 3/32" 7024. This showed promise, but the part was hosed due to warpage and excessive removal of material.
