SMAW Practice 73. The clips not used in the "SMAW Practice 73 Alternate" videos. This is the best video of the three; consider skipping the alternates. This is padding beads on 5/8" plate steel using 3/32" 7018AC electrodes. Settings are 90A DCEP.. The 220V DC stick welding machine is a Miller Thunderbolt 210. You notice that I often had a rough time getting these 7018AC electrodes started even though I prepped the metal. Using a "lift arc" technique helped with this. No more "SMAW Practice" videos for awhile. I will now be starting an in depth "Miller Dynasty 210 vs. Thunderbolt 210" series of videos for eleven different types of welding electrodes. Each electrode gets it's own video, and I will produce the videos in order, beginning with 6010 even though Miller doesn't recommend the Thunderbolt 210 for E6010.
