Smith & Wesson Model 25
Next we have the Smith & Wesson Model 25-2 made in 1977 chambered in .45 Colt. Normal chambering for the Model 25 is .45 ACP, not many of these were made in .45 Colt so this one is an interesting example. The cylinder size is also the "smaller" size which was normally the .45 ACP size so tracing its DNA is a little easier with this clue as the 125 Anniversary Model 25-3's which hit the scene in 1977 were made using this chambering and cylinder size. The later 25-5 models in .45 Colt used the larger cylinder size making them a totally different animal. Weird. Cycling inert snap caps through this gun for function examination/testing is made possible by Realistic Snap Caps at realisticsnapcaps.com and you can purchase these examples yourself using coupon code milsurpgarage at check out which will get you 10% off and shipping is free. These snap caps have the look, weight, feel, and balance of real rounds while being totally inert and safe. Their construction is such that they have a firing pin protection pad in every primer pocket and bonded "projectiles" to prevent them from coming loose over time.
