I started a video series on Lisa Feldman Barrett's "How Emotions Are Made," which does a lot to show how a lot of what we think about emotions is wrong, based on some bad science. One of the big misconceptions is about Universal Human Emotions, that everyone feels happy, or sad, or angry, or disgust, etc. Based on her decades of work on studying emotions, it turns out that there is no such thing as emotions that all humans feel. We all have the capacity to feel emotions, but every culture, every upbringing, every person, feels something different.
I'll talk about this a lot more in the video on my new channel, @SimonsBookClub. And I'll be posting more videos on the subject of human emotion, on interoception, body budgets, emotional regulation, and much more.
