Soccer Dribble Task Analysis

Today we are going to analyzing the skills of dribbling a soccer ball. I will be going over 5 parts of the body that we will be using. I will split each body part into 3 phases. These phases are called the Preparation Phase, Execution Phase, Follow- Through Phase. For the 5 body parts we will be using them in this order. 1. Preferred Leg. 2. Non-Preferred Leg. 3. Head. 4.Non-Preferred Arm 5. Preferred Arm -Preferred Leg Preparation Phase- Body placed behind the ball, toe pointing outwards. Execution Phase- contact ball by moving your foot towards the ball in a forward motion. Follow- Through Phase- apply pressure to the ball with inside of foot to keep it going in a forward motion -Non- Preferred Leg Preparation Phase- Body Placed behind the ball, toe pointing forward Execution Phase- Contact ball keeping ball in between non and dominate foot. Follow- Through Phase- push leg forward making contact with the ball Head- Preparation Phase-Head glances back and forth from ball and eye level Execution Phase- Eyes focused on ball and track ball with eyes as it travels forward Follow- Through Phase- Stay on task by tracking and looking at ball and for it Arms- Preparation Phase- Arms are relaxed at slightly bent elbows relaxed. Hands relaxed at chest level with arms relaxed. Execution Phase- Extend arm to side when running keeping them relaxed having the arms move side to side of the body to balance the runner. Follow- Through Phase- Arms swing slightly in front of body while hands relaxed. Trunk Preparation Phase- Upright Ready Position Execution Phase- Slight backward Lean of trunk Follow- Through Phase- slight twist while switching the momentum of each leg while dribbling.
