How much sand, silt, clay and organic matter are in your sample? When you add soil and water to a jar and shake it really well, the soil settles out into layers of sand (at the bottom), silt in the middle and clay at the top (or it sometimes stays in suspension). Do this with your own soil sample and let us know what you find!
