When creating a part in SOLIDWORKS, it is easy to merge separate bodies and ensure that there is no overlap between solid bodies which would result in inaccurate geometry, mass, and just generally mess up the properties of your studies. At an assembly level this can be slightly more complicated, but this video shows a method to resolve interferences between parts. Interferences can be found using the interference checker and parts can be edited in the context of other parts. Because of this, part configurations can be created that account for the interference of other parts.
