In this video, we look at the Compare tool inside of SOLIDWORKS and how we can quickly analyze revisions between model geometries like volume, faces, and any changes to the drawings. Compare Geometry: When we compare geometry of the two models, we want to make sure we use the Align feature in the settings. This setting will orient the models to the same origin for comparison even if the parts are not in the same orientation.
** Note: When you compare surface models, it only does a surface comparison between the two it does not compare volumes.
Compare Drawings: Compares two drawing the same part for example a Rev-A versus a Reb-B drawing. Think of it like doing an overlay and any changes in the two the compare two will indicate the changes in the colors that you define in the initial settings.
Compare Documents: This allows you to compare documents like pdf’s of the drawings in case you got pdf files for the blueprints not drawing files. Quick Tip presented by David Cersley of GoEngineer.
