In this video, I show how to solve nonlinear inequalities. The functions involved in the inequalities questions include cubic polynomials, quartic polynomials, rational functions, and natural log functions.
The steps involved are to solve the corresponding equation, make a number line based on the domain/roots/holes/asymptotes of the function, test values on each subinterval, then write out the solution set in interval notation.
The nonlinear inequality examples covered in this video would most likely be seen in either an Advanced Algebra or Precalculus course.
The topics covered in this video include solving nonlinear inequalities, union of sets, solving cubic and quartic equations, rational functions, solving rational equations, natural log functions, solving equations with natural logs, domain, vertical asymptotes, TI 84 Plus CE Calculator.
