Differential equations are really all about modeling change. In this video we take a look at the differences between solving a differential equation and calculating an integral. We'll also look at the similarities between the graphs of a family of curves (the general solution to a differential equation) and the graph of the differential equation itself.
At the college where I teach this class, this information (as well as the next two videos) are more of a preview. Our course starts with methods of solving differential equations. For that reason, these first three videos are not what I would call "thorough"; they are provided as optional "preview" information for students who are interested, but they are not tested or assessed on their content.
