Some Countries Let You Drive After Drinking…
Driving drunk is one of the biggest risk factors on the road — but what exactly goes wrong when alcohol kicks in? In this REV experiment, reporter Kai Steinecke puts himself through a high-end driving simulator to test how alcohol affects perception, reaction time, risk-taking and control. Together with leading German experts on traffic safety and substance impairment, the video compares sober driving with driving at around 1.0‰ blood alcohol level. From police-style cognitive tests to city traffic and parking manoeuvres, the results show how quickly confidence rises while driving ability drops. This is not about shock value — it’s about understanding why even “a little bit” of alcohol can make modern traffic systems so dangerous. Watch, learn, and rethink what “still okay to drive” really means. #DrinkAndDrive #RoadSafety #DrivingSimulator #MobilityResearch #TrafficSafety #AlcoholEffects #FutureOfMobility #REV 👉 This experiment was conducted in a controlled environment. 🚫 Never drink and drive. 00:00 – “I’m going to try drunk driving” – for science 00:47 – Inside the driving simulator 01:08 – Establishing a sober baseline 01:34 – 0.0‰: confirmed sober 01:37 – Countryside driving test 02:21 – City traffic and police-style impairment tests 03:21 – From baseline to booze 03:54 – How alcohol enters the bloodstream 04:21 – Three whiskey cokes later 05:01 – Global alcohol limits explained 05:45 – Cognitive and memory tests while intoxicated 06:49 – Breathalyzer result: 1.0‰ 07:00 – Drunk driving in the simulator 08:12 – Risk-taking, tunnel vision, and loss of control 09:10 – Why “feeling fine” is the real danger ► Liked the video?
