Something Sleeps Beneath the Ocean
Minecraft player Rust accepts a computer from an unknown relative, a decision that unknowingly binds him to a process with the goal of waking an entity that sleeps beneath the Minecraft (and possibly real world) ocean. For when it rises, it will bring a new era. All content displayed here is fictional. Story and video was written, created, edited, and produced by Namentix. I absolutely love this video, it was such a joy to make, and the process of making it was the most fun I've had so far. That being said, there are still a considerable amount of issues. For starters, I don't think we get to KNOW Rust well enough before his mental degradation. We know he's a bit analytical, maybe a little bored and ignorant, but that's really it. I think in the future, and if there ever is a sequel, we will have to explore who Rust is more. Some of the books could be better written. I think next time, I need to take my time on them, make sure each one means something connective, and it will all come full circle a lot nicer. The twist is excellent, I wouldn't change it. It lands well in my opinion. Anyway, please let me know if a sequel is something you'd be interested in seeing. Of course, it's set up for a sequel, but that doesn't mean it NEEDS to happen. I would love to see reactions before moving forward with that. This took about 3 weeks of non-stop work to make, and cutting corners in school and life that I probably shouldn't have LOL. Hope the end product visualizes that commitment well. Also, I’ve seen some people ask why Rust and the narrator never call the entity “Cthulhu.” The reason is simple: in this story, the Lovecraft stories do not exist. Rust has no reason to know that name. If Lovecraft existed in this world, then he would basically have to be treated as some kind of prophet who accurately wrote about real cosmic beings, and that would pull the story in a direction it was never meant to go. The characters are not avoiding the name because they forgot it. They do not know it, and would have no way of knowing it.
