The secret to a great song is to have solid structure & present the listener with something new, while providing familiarity throughout the song to keep them listening and interested!
One of the ways to establish familiarity in music is to use patterns. These patterns are usually the chord progression, bass line, melody and groove that are the same for each section, so the verse will have a specific chord progression, bass line, melody and groove, and then, the chorus will be slightly different to that, and so on.
Some “Song engineering Techniques” are demonstrated in the video that will hopefully inspire you as you prepare to mix out your tracks.
I’ve used a fantastic kit from Late Night Jazz 2 sample pack from The Anthology Label, available at Producerloops.com!
