SONY CDP-30 - CIRCA 1985
Sony CDP-30 midi sized CD player from 1985 and the classic era of Sony players. A nice, firmly built player with very fast read and track selection times, even though the laser is moved via motor and gears like the ever so fast CDP-35, which with speeds like that you’d expect a linear sled mechanism, but not on this. Common issues with these that I’ve encountered are broken tray gears, disc tray motor stuck on and spindle motors constantly spinning as soon as the unit is powered on. But other than those issues, they are fine players. Track repeat and all track (disc) repeat modes, as well as A-B repeat. No track programmability or random. No remote control function. It does have index buttons. 2x analog RCA outputs. KSS-121A Laser. CX20017, 16 bit DAC. Size wise it measures 355 x 70 x 275mm.
