The State Corporation for Space Activities "Roscosmos" (Roscosmos) successfully launched a medium-lift launch vehicle (MLV) Irtysh (Russian: Иртыш), also named Soyuz 5 (Russian: Союз 5) and Sunkar in Kazakh (literal translation 'falcon'), from launch pad 1 at launch complex Site 45 at Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. This launch flew a dummy payload matching a future satellite in weight and size. The flight took place on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 18:00:00 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), or at 11:00:00 PM Kazakhstan Time. It was a maiden flight of the Soyuz 5 launch vehicle.
