I was invited out to a special creators event to collect opals at the Spender Opal Mine. We were give a 5 gallon bucket and had the option to hard rock mine or surface collect. I went with surface collecting! Sure, you may have gone through the tailings at the diner, BUT THIS IS DIFFERENT! The mine part has been closed to the public for a couple decades or more. They are doing a trial run of opening up the actual mine for a fee dig! Make sure to go to their website to schedule.
