Cool Lego Spike Prime Lesson! In this lesson students will be challenged to come up with their own design for a working cable car using Lego Spike Prime. As with all my lessons, everyone's creation will be different. I will give you rules and tips on how to build and code your very own cable car! (See chapters below) Chapters: 00:00 Intro to the challenge and chapter headings 00:14 Robot Man's intro 00:51 Rules and Tips 01:37 Construction ideas 03:20 Coding your robot 05:16 Teacher instructions 07:00 Member shout-out 07:03 Link to all my lessons Extension Ideas Autonomous Start: Challenge students to use a sensor (like the color sensor or a distance sensor) to program their robot to start automatically, for example, when a hand passes in front of it. Advanced Journey: Add a checkpoint in the middle of the string. The robot must stop there, wait for a few seconds, and then continue to the end. Variable Payload: Introduce a variable payload (e.g., a small weight) and challenge students to design a robot that can still maintain speed and balance. Scoring My best free Google Sheet for scoring this challenge are: “Quickest time” spreadsheet found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1a74wqmLOiqySXNCm1KbSNim3nNh89D5eqdphpp7ZJ80/edit?usp=sharing I have all my handy scoring and assessment Google Sheets here: https://www.robotman.com.au/handy-google-sheets.html (These are Google Sheets. Go to “FILE” and select “Make a copy”) I made this spreadsheet for you to make a copy. You can enter a score for each student on a scale of 1-5. Customisable and handy! Check it out here: https://youtu.be/8ka-pr0omxg (there is a link to the actual Google Sheet on the video’s description) (These are Google Sheets. Go to “FILE” and select “Make a copy”) Here are two worksheets (one for older, one for younger) that teachers choose from, for students to fill out after the challenge. Print hard copy, or get students to fill in Word ‘soft” version: Junior hard copy (to print) https://www.robotman.com.au/uploads/5/3/1/7/53176611/pdf_student_reflections__younger_.pdf Senior hard copy (to print) https://www.robotman.com.au/uploads/5/3/1/7/53176611/pdf_student_reflections__older_.pdf Junior soft copy (to fill out) https://www.robotman.com.au/uploads/5/3/1/7/53176611/word_student_reflections__younger_.docx Senior soft copy (to fill out) https://www.robotman.com.au/uploads/5/3/1/7/53176611/word_student_reflections__older_.docx A comprehensive lesson plan and curriculum links for this challenge can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OsvfEiLbSAo67c4tR7SjBbpZLNQ0AlAI/view?usp=sharing See all my Spike Prime lessons here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxFeBwC-gJMRNEFCs9qACh-HESCWB-7_a Do you want your own Merch store??
