Spinet Handel

The second video featuring the restored Keene and Blunt spinet of 1702. I have recorded this wonderful Handel allemande twice before: a video on the large harpsichord of 2016, and the same, on my Handel CD of 2024. Although the sound quality is not so good, and it's harder to play on the spinet, it seems to my ears to have more character on this instrument, and somehow to sound 'right'. FAQ Q. You’re generally playing instruments made by yourself. How many have you made? A. Around three hundred of various types, over nearly fifty years. Q. Which do you prefer – making or playing? A. Neither, but I’ve just finished my last instrument, so from now on it’s playing and teaching. I also enjoy writing. My book, published in 2010, was very satisfying, and hundreds of purchasers have thanked me for it.
