Sprue Picker Robot
A sprue picker is a compact robotic device used in conjunction with an injection molding machine to automatically remove the sprue from the mold. Typically mounted on the top or side of the machine, the sprue picker reaches into the open mold at the end of the molding cycle to grasp and extract the sprue. Using a sprue picker increases efficiency and consistency in part handling by reducing the need for manual labor, minimizing cycle times, and ensuring a clean separation between the molded part and the runner system. It also helps protect the mold by preventing unnecessary mechanical stress or damage that can occur during manual sprue removal. Sprue pickers are often programmable to match the specific cycle timing and stroke of the molding machine. They are instrumental in applications with cold runner molds where the sprue is not part of the finished part and must be removed and either recycled or discarded. Overall, a sprue picker is a cost-effective automation solution that contributes to increased productivity, enhanced safety, and improved part quality in the injection molding process.
