SSP (Slip Slip Purl) creates a left-leaning decrease, when viewed from the opposite side. Generally you would use an SSP if you're working in stockinette and want to make a decrease on a purl row that leans to the left (when viewed from the right/public side). If you don't mind which direction your decrease leans, then use a P2Tog (Purl 2 Together) instead, since it's easier and faster to work.
