Stabilise Van Tips
3 top tips from the Jayco technicians for setting up your caravan's stabiliser legs perfectly every time: ✅ Level first, stabilise second: Always use your leveling ramps and jockey wheel for north/south and east/west leveling before touching the legs. Remember, these are stabiliser legs, not jacks—they are designed to keep the van stable while you walk around inside, not to lift or level the van! ✅ Aim for a 90 degree angle: Pull the red handle underneath to swing the leg down. Whenever possible, make sure the leg drops straight up and down (vertically), as this allows it to handle the most load safely. If rough terrain forces the leg to sit at an angle, just be aware that it can't handle as much weight. ✅ NO power drill: Always use the manual hex winding tool that comes with your caravan. Using a power drill can over-tension the mechanism and destroy the leg. Simply wind it down manually until it touches the ground with just a little bit of weight on it.
