Stator Winding is easily visualised in case Coil Groups are shown in the shape of Bulbs. Winding is drawn with various combination of Poles, Parallel Paths and q i.e. Slots/Pole?phase. Number of Poles should be divisible by number of parallel paths. Stator Winding is same for both Induction Motor and Synchronous Generator/Motor. In case of 2 Poles, there are 2 Coil Groups per Phase. Let EMF Induced in one Coil Group is E. EMF available at the Generator/Motor Terminal is 2E and Current is I. In 2 Parallel Paths, EMF is E and Current is 2I. It is immaterial if Coils per Group are increased. In a 4 Pole Machine, Number of Coil Groups are 4. In one Parallel Path, EMF available at Motor Terminal is 4E and Current is I. In 2 Parallel Paths, EMF is 2E and Current is 2I In 4 Parallel Paths, EMF is E and Current is 4I. Thus if supply is 6.6 kV and you have designed the Motor with one Parallel Path, you can make it suitable for 3.3 kV by making 2 Parallel Paths.
