Steel Structure Optimization with STAAD: Part 5 - SELECT OPTIMIZED & FIXED GROUP || Variable RATIO
If we design a steel structure in STAAD using traditional design approach, then we need to manually review the design results and change the section size so that the optimum section is used. This process is time consuming, also it is very hard to find out the most economic section by trial and error method. Proper optimization of the entire structure not only reduces the overall steel weight but also ensure proper distribution of forces. In this video, I have covered the use of SELECT OPTIMIZED command, how to use this command for optimization, difference with the SELECT command and finally, I will discuss about FIXED GROUP command.
