Inspired by Genesis 27: Verse 1 Isaac old, vision fading Calls Esau, “bring me what I love Prepare the meal, I’ll bless you before I go” But Rebekah hears it all Calls Jacob in, whispers a plan “Follow my voice, we’re moving now” He hesitates, “What if I’m caught? He’ll feel my skin, I’ll bring a curse” She says, “Let it fall on me—just go” She covers him in another man’s identity Clothes, the scent, the disguise And sends him in Pre-Chorus Sometimes we move ahead of promise Trying to secure what God already said But shortcuts carry shadows And truth can’t stay hidden forever Chorus He said, “I am Esau” — standing in a lie Voice didn’t match but the blessing still arrived Hands felt right, so the moment passed And words were spoken that could never come back Now the blessing’s gone, it won’t return Tears fall heavy, bridges burn What you take in the dark will cost in the light A moment of gain… a lifetime fight Verse 2 Esau walks in, meal in his hands “Father, rise… bless me now” Silence breaks everything Isaac trembles — “Then who was here?” “I’ve already blessed him… it’s done” And heaven doesn’t rewind words Esau cries out from deep within “Is there nothing left for me?” But the weight of choice is real Anger grows, “I’ll take his life” So Rebekah sends Jacob away What was gained now leads to running Pre-Chorus Sometimes we move ahead of promise Trying to secure what God already said But shortcuts carry shadows And truth can’t stay hidden forever Chorus (x2) He said, “I am Esau” — standing in a lie Voice didn’t match but the blessing still arrived Hands felt right, so the moment passed And words were spoken that could never come back Now the blessing’s gone, it won’t return Tears fall heavy, bridges burn What you take in the dark will cost in the light A moment of gain… a lifetime fight #gospel #rnb #sound
