Shizuma sees Nagisa as another way of getting to Kaori, but Tamao just generally loves her, so when Shizuma turns her aside, Nagisa turns to Tamao and goes out for Etoile, which I think is astoundingly cute, but when Shizuma's arms open back up, Tamao lets Nagisa go.
