String Modes - Large-scale Show and Tell: How Stringed Instruments Behave

A quick video with some close-ups of string modes I put together for BanjoHangout.org. It primarily focuses on the issue of the lateral (parallel to the head) excursions of the string compared to those perpendicular to the head. In the last scene of the video, I forgot to mention that the lengthwise (longitudinal) energy of the string is of some importance to the banjo, but it is the major driving force in a fixed bridge instrument such as the steel string guitar.
