Hello from the sewing room!
Today I’m making a string-pieced quilt block. This is a great block to make when you have scraps to use or, like I’m doing, using up a fat quarter bundle.
This block can be made in any size. In the video mine is squared up to 10.5 inches and will finish in your quilt project at 10 inches square.
This block is made on a foundation fabric of your choice. I use a muslin that I ordered online. You then sew strips of fabric to the muslin, creating colorful blocks.
In this tutorial I show you step by step how to construct the block and square it up so it’s all ready for whatever project you might want to use it in.
These blocks are great for a wall hanging or any sized quilt. I think six 10-inch blocks would make a nice sized wall hanging.
I really love making theses blocks because they come together very quickly and simply. They’re the perfect blocks to make on a rainy day with your favorite podcast, book, or music playing in the background.
Enjoy the tutorial and thank you for watching!
