5th grade students lead a discussion using the Visual Thinking Strategy (VTS). In this case, they looked at an uncaptioned pictured from The New York Times, that is part of their “What’s Going in this Picture” curriculum. https://www.nytimes.com/column/learning-whats-going-on-in-this-picture. The students used https://vtshome.org/ questions to unpack what they saw in the picture. The questions include: 1. What is going on in this picture? 2. What makes you say that? and 3. What else can you find. The students also apply their use of VTS to resources at https://doodles-academy.org/. You can other text-based discussion resources at www.justtwoteachers.com
