Musician Eydís Kvaran improvises with code for halldorophone by lab member, composer Nicola Privato. Nicola describes the study thus:
"The code modulates the Halldorophone's feedback loops via spectral limiting. This study tests one autonomous limiting agent on the main instrument's out. The final piece will feature multiple interdependent agents, possibly one per string, dynamically interacting with each other and with the performer."
The instrument is an easily re-configuragble, research version of the halldorophone with a bela onboard for running custom DSP:
