RECIPE: 1 cup unsalted butter (two sticks) 1 1/4 c. Granulated Sugar 1/8 c. Brown sugar (not packed) 2 large eggs (room temperature) 1/2 TBSP Baking Powder 3 1/2 c. All purpose flour (1/2 c. for rolling) 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional) 325° in oven 10-15min Please watch your first batch and time them as everyones climate is different* My Royal Icing Recipe: 2 c. Sifted powder sugar 1 1/2 TBSP meringue powder (sifted) 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. 3-5 tablespoons of water 8-10min high speed mixing with wire wisk. KEEP IN MIND I ADD 1 TABLESPOON OF LEMON JUICE SO MY ICING DRIES QUICKER, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS (SOME PEOPLE WILL NOTICE THE FLAVOR, SOME)... YOUR ICING WILL TAKE A LITTLE LONGER TO DRY IF YOU DO STRAIGHT WATER* Edible Glue Piping Gel (PLEASE NOT YOU CAN USE YOUR OWN PRE BOUGHT EDIBLE GLUE GEL TOO) 1/2 cup white corn syrup 1/4 cup cold water 1/4 c. cornstarch MIX WATER AND CORNSTARCH WITH WISK TIL THERE ARE NO LUMPS. THEN ADD CORN SYRUP AND MIX WELL. PUT IN MICROWAVE FOR 30SEC INTERVALS, MIXING IN BETWEEN. WILL BE THICK SO ADD WATER TO THIN OUT TO YOUR LIKING Alternative recipe for icing -Ingredients 3 ounces pasteurized egg whites 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 4 cups confectioners' sugar -Directions Watch how to make this recipe. In large bowl of stand mixer combine the egg whites and vanilla and beat until frothy. Add confectioners' sugar gradually and mix on low speed until sugar is incorporated and mixture is shiny. Turn speed up to high and beat until mixture forms stiff, glossy peaks. This should take approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Add food coloring, if desired. For immediate use, transfer icing to pastry bag or heavy duty storage bag and pipe as desired. If using storage bag, clip corner. Store in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 3 days. If you don't feel like making the edible glue, you can purchase some from little hunnys cakery . *Under AZ cottage law, we can no longer use meringue powder to make cookie icing*
