It's June 26, just five days after the summer solstice, and Northbound Amtrak Train 14, the Coast Starlight, is on time, so we board at San Jose en route to Portland during daylight hours. A rare event, considering it's usually not this light out at 20:10 in the evening. And the 14 is usually thirty minutes late at this point!
